University of South Carolina – A Finished Baby Quilt!

What a bold, modern yet sweet baby quilt for a future Gamecocks fan! We used a simple 16-Patch square consisting of finished 2” squares to create this fun baby quilt.
The pattern that emerged is pretty interesting. We decided to alternate burgundy and black fabrics with low volume black and white prints and the effect is amazing!
We ended up with a lot of 2 ½” strips for this one. In fact, we have a second USC checkerboard baby quilt in the works (coming soon)! But for this one, we pieced together strips to make a scrappy binding which gives this quilt a fun and creative finish.
Even the back of this quilt is fun! It has 1 Large Black and White Panel in the middle with 2 Burgundy and White Sides.
We quilted in the seams’ ditches to create an all-over 2” checkerboard.
This quilt is the perfect size for a little one to practice tummy time and use it as a play mat – especially at a tailgate. It is the perfect size for a baby to grow in to and use it as a toddler blanket. You could even bring it to a cold USC game and have an awesome lap quilt!

We pre-wash our high design fabrics with mild organic laundry detergent and use a color guard to ensure that the quilt’s colors will not run. We want our quilts to be used over and over, so we take great pride in our piecing, stitching and quilting. This baby quilt is washable in a gentle cycle and can be dried in a low-temperature dryer setting.
We have listed this quilt in our shop.
