What a fun, modern baby quilt! Although this quilt is a little smaller than what we usually make, it still packs quite a punch! We just love how many options you can get with an HST (Half Square Triangle) – See our quilt top post for more details. And HST’s are so much fun to chain-piece! We used a bold diagonal layout – it is a striking quilt!
There are lots of tutorials and approaches for the HST, but we use our trusty AccuQuilt Go! die to cut our triangles. The die has a ¼” seam allowance, so it make piecing accurate and fun!
We quilted this one by ditch-stitching in the diagonal seams. We knew we needed more quilting, so we added quilting ½” from the ditch within the color strips. After a lot of debate, we decided to quilt in the white as well and we are so happy we did! The quilting is simple in style, but big on visual impact.
Quilt Dimensions: 38” x 42”
4” x 4” Units consist of (2) triangles sewn together.
This baby quilt features yellow and green fabric from Cotton + Steel, Denyse Schmidt, Lizzy House and Michael Miller. The White is Robert Kaufman Kona in White. More Details on this top’s Fabric Friday shout out.
The binding and back are from Carolyn Friedlander’s Architectures: Crosshatch in Fern (one of our favorites!).
The batting is a low loft cotton batting from Warm & Co.
