With my oldest turning 3 this weekend, mom and I knew we’d get caught up in parties and get-togethers. Sewing would have to take a backseat while we put together toys and dollhouses for the lucky girl! So we decided to make a quick and easy quilt top for this week’s post, and the school for our color inspiration: University of Florida – Gators!
Our pattern consists of simple large 6” patchwork squares in various shades of orange and blue (check out specifics in our Fabric Friday post). Although the piecing was simple, the top is still stunning. The large squares really let the fabric patterns shine. And the color combination is so bright and cheerful!
We also decided to make a “boy” quilt and I think we managed to achieve that (but I think a little girl would love it too!). The top measures at 42″ x 48″ – perfect for a little Gator fan!
This one is going to be fun to quilt – we will be adding additional quilting to give the quilt more texture.
But in the meantime, I apologize for the quick post – we have to get back to spending time with my wonderful family!
Hope you’re having a great weekend!
Jenn and Linda
