Learning how to to machine bind your quilt can be addictive! And we’ve created a 2-part video series that will help you get hooked as well!
Mom and I LOVE machine binding – it’s faster than hand sewing and it makes your quilt look professional and finished.
But this love of machine binding wasn’t always the case for Mom and me.
The “Machine Binding Technique” had our number for a long time! We tried so many methods, but we could never get our machine-stitched binding to look “professional.”
So we resorted to hand sewing our quilts’ binding for a long, long time. P.S. We LOVE the look of hand sewing! We just wanted to master machine binding!
So, with a lot of research, trial and error, and practice, we think we have found the best way to machine bind our quilts. And we’re excited to share our “binding how-to” with you in a 2-part video series.
Machine Binding Tutorial – Part 1
In Part 1, we walk you through all the steps to make the binding strips and sew them together to make one long binding tape. We then show you how to attach the binding.
Approximate video length: 7 Minutes
Machine Binding Tutorial – Part 2
In our second binding video, we show you how we use the Fons + Porter Binding Tool to join the binding strips together. We also reveal how we top-stitch our binding in order to get a professional look.
You can find the Fons + Porter Binding Tool at Amazon.
